How I Cleaned My Tile Grout

I live in a house that is covered in tile: the kitchen, the living room, the bathrooms, the laundry room, and the entry way. The only carpet we have is in the bedrooms. We moved in and the grout was dark, and I thought it was supposed to look that way...until we moved the fridge or the rug or the couch and saw the pretty and white tile grout underneath. I researched all different methods of cleaning your tile grout by yourself and eventually tried what I thought sounded the most efficient.

Mix 7 cups of water, 1/2 cup of baking soda, 1/3 cup of lemon juice, and 1/4 cup of vinegar.

I used an old toothbrush and a spoon and applied the mixture to the grout and let it sit for ten minutes. Then I got down on my hands and knees and scrubbed. Each line only took one scrub across with the toothbrush to dislodge the dirt. Sounds tedious, I know, but it is SO worth it. The house looks so much brighter with clean, white tile. And it really didn't take that long. You don't have to scrub that hard. Just wipe up all the dirty water (and the water will be VERY dirty) with a towel... or a steam mop. Halfway through this process I bought a Shark steam mop and it picked up all the dirty water wonderfully. It wasn't needed for cleaning the grout, but it definitely helped in the process of cleaning up afterwards.
